Gretchen&Scott’s Carefree Cold Climate Engagement Session// Eau Claire, WI

Photography by Kelsey Jonas

Gretchen&Scott are beautiful adventure buddies– outdoor enthusiasts through and through (and have fittingly made Colorado their home).
We had planned to spend the first half of our time together shooting in a sweet little coffee spot downtown since the high for the day was 5 degrees. But when they pulled up, I just loved their response– “it’s actually not that bad out! Let’s go for it!”. As we were headed out the door, we were stopped by someone who ended up asking if we wanted to check out a place upstairs with great natural light that he had keys to. We happily followed 🙂
We found ourselves in a stunning room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking downtown– which of course was completely empty. The light was perfectly pouring in for the exact amount of time we were up there– I just love how divine appointments happen.
We then headed to Half Moon Beach right on the river, and even adventured out onto the snow-covered ice. (There was a car on it too, so our confidence was boosted in the thickness of the ice haha). I’m just amazed at how good these two make freezing cold weather look. Their laid-back personalities and adventurous hearts made my time with them a blast — MVP award goes to Gretchen for rocking adorable tights and booties in calf-deep snow at times.

I CANNOT wait until their wedding this summer– and to have them in front of my camera again when it’s warm! 🙂

Enjoy this look into their session!
