This wedding was different than any we’ve shot!! It’s not everyday that the beautiful bride you’re celebrating with is your sister, and it’s not every day that you’re in the shots you’re editing!! (ha!!)
Alyssa&I shot our very first New Mexico wedding together (where I grew up), and Alyssa rocked out the majority of this one while I was the maid of honor and in the family photos!
Getting ready began at the Sandia Resort right down the road from their venue– Sandia Lakes.
It was a classic New Mexican clear-sky day, and the Sandia Mountains created a seriously stunning backdrop for their ceremony.
Their day was full of rustic wood decorations (all mostly handmade by my family– aka dad– the master craftsman), simple baby’s breath, and chalkboard signs highlighting the heart and personality behind Jeanelle&Colin.
Their ceremony was a tear-jerker as they said their vows after 8 years of being together,
and then they did a not-so-traditional tradition of nailing shut a time-capsule box– complete with sealed letters written to one another explaining why they fell in love– to be opened on their 5 year anniversary, or earlier if they go through a hard time and need a reminder of their vows.
After delicious food, the sun set on the Sandias, showing in full glory how they got their name– the watermelon mountains– covering them in a beautiful reddish pink hue of light. The two then danced the night away with their loved ones and friends.
I cannot imagine a more perfect day for them,
and I’m SO excited to welcome Colin to the family!
Enjoy this peak into their day!
