When Alyssa and I pulled up to the Estate where Deb&Ken would be married, our jaws just dropped. We were overwhelmed and a bit giddy– we’re simple gals with simple taste, accustomed to shooting at lovely rustic barns or swoon-worthy vineyards, so a 36,000 square foot Estate beautifully secluded by the river was “whoa” worthy. The many levels of spiral staircase with a huge loft silo made up of windows, built-in bookshelves that are actually entry ways to rooms, the stunning kitchen, the wrap around screened-in porch… it was all incredible.
Deb&Ken had a private ceremony on the back patio where they exchanged vows and their first kiss. Their children made up their bridal party and they were surrounded by select friends and family and the whimsical wind taking the edge off of the 90 degree heat. After some private moments alone in the master suite, guests began to trickle in for the reception–complete with a variety of hors d’oeuvres, a carving station for meat, a table of delectable desserts, bar, and live band. (Oh! and of course, the timeless Brewster!)
Deb’s vision for her images was mainly candids with very minimal time spent on portraits– leaving room for them to spend the evening with their guests and relive their images as a story of their day, so it was by far the most “hands-off” wedding we’ve been a part of– shooting mostly as ‘a fly on the wall”. It’s crazy to think we were only there for a few short hours! Maybe having so much house to explore and be wowed by made it feel like we had been there all day! It was surely a day we will never forget, and I’m thankful these images will tell their story for years to come!
Enjoy this look into their day!
